The brief for this project was to maximise the lower ground floor space for a disabled client and her husband. The solution was to extend the building into the garden, bringing light to the rear, views toward the greenery outside, and creating a more open-plan living arrangement. A number options were considered early in the project, to make sure of the most sound investment that met these specific needs. The living space opening to the garden are required to be flexible, maximising the use as an office, living, dining and kitchen space.
Throughout the house, heating improvements, window renewal and restoration of period features will be part of the requirement to modernise all four floors. We were instrumental in helping achieve VAT relief savings on construction work. The project was completed in July 2011.
