At first glance, this ground floor extension simply provides a better kitchen/dining space, replacing two unlinked rooms that served this function inadequately. But the way in which these spaces link with one another and the garden beyond is carefully crafted to suit the particular house and family.
In providing a semi split level, a separate playspace that can be opened fully to the garden is ideal for a young family. Getting the right separation between these is something that involved a number of discussions to get just the right design. On completion in 2011, the project kept to predicted budget, even though variations were made.
